This week in CEO, I focused on refining my business and leadership skills while gaining valuable insights from guest speakers and hands-on experiences. On Monday, I practiced my 30-second pitch for the National Pitch Competition. Through this exercise, I realized the importance of slowing down while speaking to ensure clarity and impact. Additionally, I took a significant step for my business, Simply Sketched, by creating an official Instagram page. This will help me establish a stronger online presence and attract potential customers. Tuesday’s session provided an eye-opening experience as we met Patty Gregory, the Mayor of Belleville, and participated in a mock city council meeting. This role-play reinforced the importance of listening to diverse perspectives and understanding how decisions are made to benefit an entire community. It was a great lesson in leadership, compromise, and civic engagement. Wednesday was a shift from business strategy to personal well-being as Geri Boyer led us in a meditation session. She emphasized the importance of mindfulness, living in the present, and acknowledging our emotions. This practice is something I can incorporate into my daily life to manage stress and stay focused.
